Delores K. Smith, 82, Bismarck, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2018, in her home with her family at her side. She was greeted in Heaven by her loving son Jeff. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 25, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N. 2nd St., Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Tuesday, April 24, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 pm. Cremation has taken place. Dee was born December 13, 1935, to Hans and Mary (Peck) Hoyum. She graduated from St. Leo’s High School in Minot in 1953. In 1956, she met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Smith, in Minot. They were married the next year, and this past March celebrated their 61st anniversary. Most of their married life together they lived in Bismarck, where they raised five children. Dee was a stay-at-home mother until her children were older, then worked part-time at Juniques in Gateway Mall. Dee enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent Nursing Home, styling the hair of residents. She and Dick were avid members of St. Mary’s Booster Club, and most recently, they enjoyed serving funeral lunches at Corpus Christi. In 1986, Dick and Dee moved from Bismarck to Missoula, MT, where Dick retired in 1990 from the US Army. After retirement, they moved to Flathead Lake, MT, then to Sun City West, AZ, where they enjoyed many friends and gave their kids a warm place to visit! They moved back to Bismarck in 2005 to be closer to their kids and grandkids. Dee was a devout Catholic and a member of Corpus Christi Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Dee is survived by her husband, Dick Smith; her children, Tama Smith (Jerry DeMartin), Nikki (Glen) Bosch, Scott (Tina), and Rick (Mindy); eight grandchildren, Andrew Stenehjem, Matthew (Tiffany) Hawkins, Michael (Morgan) Bosch, Jessica (Brett) Fuller, Stephanie (Ben) Gaboury, Chelsey (Chad) Fahrni, Jordan and Sydney Smith; two step-grandchildren, Alex and Adam Schmidt; nine great-grandchildren and two on the way. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery M. Smith; her parents and two sisters. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s High School.
