Delores Elaine Pfaff, 83, died January 21, 2019, with family by her side at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 26, at Zion United Methodist Church, Tappen, with Pastor Brenda Goodman officiating. Burial will be at Fisher Cemetery, Tappen. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, January 24, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, and will continue from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday, January 25, at Eastgate-Steele Memorial Chapel, Steele, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Delores was born June 24, 1935, in Tuttle, ND, the daughter of Wilhelm and Pauline (Binder) Kluth. She was raised and educated in the Tuttle-Dawson-Tappen area. She married Art Pfaff on September 7, 1951, and they had four children, Tootie, Ernie, Kenny, and Patty. She had a variety of jobs throughout her lifetime but was most proud of being a housewife. Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma, were the roles she did best. Family was most important and holidays were always special. Feisty, funny, and friendly are the best words to describe her. If she was your elder and you needed guidance, she would set you straight. Her sense of humor was as huge as her heart. From phone calls making sure you still remembered her phone number because it had been a while since you called, to cracking jokes from her hospital bed. If there was humor to be found, she found it. The phrase, “never met a stranger,” is honestly true for Delores, if you were a newcomer to Tappen or an old family friend. Her ears would always listen, her heart would give advice, and her shoulder would hold your tears. She touched the hearts of all she met and will be missed by more than we know. Delores is survived by her children, Beatrice “Tootie” Schauer, Tappen, Ernest “Ernie” and Janet (Rohrich) Pfaff, Tappen, Kenneth “Kenny” and Betty (Mueller) Pfaff, Tappen, and Patricia “Patty” and Tim Thorsness, Bismarck; her grandchildren, Billy and Heather Pfaff, Shauna and Chris Justice, Kristi and Nathan Dockter, Rick and Alyssa Schauer, Kenny Pfaff, Jr., Garrett Pfaff, Josh Pfaff, and Keeley Thorsness; great-grandchildren, Keyra, Tori, McKinsey, Ethan, Elizabeth, Sophia, Kage, Brennen, and Eli; sisters-in-law, Delores Kluth, Alvina Kluth, and Bertha Roemmick; and many nieces and nephews. Delores joins her husband, Art; her grandson, Robert; son-in-law, Al Schauer; siblings and many other close family members.
