Dennis Meier

Dennis Eugene Meier, 79, Bismarck, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, with his wife and daughter by his side. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 5 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Burial will be held at Tuttle Cemetery, Tuttle. 

Dennis was born and "raised" in Vancouver, WA, before being moved to North Dakota at about six weeks old by his parents, Herman and Anna (Hahn) Meier. He graduated from Tuttle High School in 1963 before enlisting in the Army.

In 1968, he married Rosalee Schiwal of Mott. They had two children, Darin and Kristy.

In 1981, Dennis married Lonna Sathre of Tuttle. They had one child, BreAnne.

After working many jobs throughout the years, including farm laborer, bar owner, house mover, soil sampler, construction crew member, and foreman at AgWay Seed Company, he began his 43-year employment at Bismarck Lumber.

He is remembered by his wife of 43 years, Lonna; daughters, Kristy (Rich) and BreAnne; grandchildren, Andy (Ashley), Aly (Cody), and Alex (Alyssa); great-grandchildren, Kendall, Grayson, Carson, Asher, Brooklynn, and one on the way; sisters, Carol (Dan) Baillie and Sheree Wolf; brothers, Arlin (Thelma) Meier and Randy (Linda) Meier; sisters-in-law, Margot (Toney) Manley, Sharol Felch, Lori Sathre, Karren Meier, and MaryAnn Meier; brothers-in-law, Clois Hetletved and Dennis Leno; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Anna; son, Darin; brothers, DeLane, Gerald, and Roger; infant sisters, Arletta and Katherine; father- and mother-in-law, Helmer and Evelyn Sathre; sisters-in-law, Susie Leno and Helen Hetletved; and brothers-in-law, Darwin Felch and Hal Sathre.
