Dolores was born in Rugby, ND on April 8, 1931 to Nickolas Volk and Johanna (Bickler) Volk. She grew up on a farm south of Rugby and attended a one room country schoolhouse until 8th grade. She graduated from Rugby High School and The College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, MN, with a degree in Bookkeeping.
She met William F. (Bill) Bianco Sr., in Duluth while attending St. Scholastica, and embarked on a life together for fifty years. Marrying on January 16, 1954, in Duluth, MN, Dolores and Bill had 6 children.
Dolores and Bill moved to Bismarck, ND in 1969 after many years of moving around the country and welcoming their first three children. While she continued to raise her family in Bismarck, Dolores spent many hours supporting Bismarck Hockey and was a founding board member of the Bismarck Figure Skating Club. She also found time to provide Meals on Wheels, belong to a Birthday Club, and provide food services after funerals. In her later years, Dolores found profound joy in being surrounded by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
As a longtime member of the Cathedral Parish in Bismarck, Dolores was a faithful fixture at the eight-a.m. mass. She enjoyed coffee and turnovers with her friends from church after mass on weekday mornings at Dan’s Super Value. She was a eucharistic minister and brought great comfort to her late husband by providing the offering at home during his long illness.
