Don was born August 7, 1940 in Bismarck. He was the son of Aaron and Minnie Redmann. He attended school in Glen Ullin and graduated with a business degree from the National School of Business in Rapid City, SD. Don started at Job Service of ND soon after he graduated from college. He remained there until his retirement in 1990. He returned to Job Service as a consultant for a few years until he decided to fully retire.
As a college student he was involved in a singing group called “Three Hits and a Miss” with Bryan Elhardt, Cordell Oxentenko and Coreen Oxentenko. They traveled throughout several states and Canada singing in various churches. Don was the pianist for the group. He met his future wife during this time.
Don and Coreen were married on April 17, 1964 in Bismarck where they lived together for 55 happy years. They enjoyed doing everything together. You did not often see one without the other. They raised two children whom they blessed with wonderful childhoods.
Don served in the Army and Army Reserve as a Medical Corpsman and a Medical Specialist from 1963 – 1969.
Don was known for his wonderful, witty personality. He had a joke ready for every situation. He was so much fun to be around. He loved to have coffee at Starbucks (a tall bold with a shot!) and loved treats of every kind. He enjoyed singing in the Evangel Choir for many years and would remind everyone that it was all a matter of priorities.
Don loved his family very much. Spending time with them was his very favorite thing to do. He loved his family well. His wife, children, grand children and great grandchildren were his world. Everything he did revolved around them. He was ready and willing to drop absolutely everything to help any one of his kids that needed anything. He was always too generous which of course we all loved. He loved playing yard games, taking care of his lawn, beautiful roses and garden. He also enjoyed getting together to play dominos or other games with friends. He loved cheering for the Century Patriots and the University of Mary Marauders. He was so excited for this next basketball season to start. He loved to follow every activity that his grandchildren were a part of. He was absolutely their #1 fan.
Don’s theme in life was Life is Good. He felt that way, lived that way, and even loved wearing his favorite Life is Good t-shirts. This is a lesson and a memory that will be cherished by his family.
Don left a wonderful Christian heritage to his family. His greatest wish was to see everyone of his beloved family in heaven again someday. We will miss him greatly, but we rejoice with him that he is with Jesus today.
He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 55 years, Coreen; his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy (Dan) Sipes, Bismarck; his son and daughter-in-law, Trent (Melinda) Redmann, Woodbury, MN; his grandchildren Tanner and Caitlin Strickland, Caja Sipes and Joshua Sipes, Rylie, Joel, Elisha, Isaac and Levi Redmann; his great grandchildren Karli and Karter Strickland; his special cousin Lerrene Kroh, who was more like a sister; and nieces and one nephew.
He was proceeded in death by his mother and father.
