Donald Davis

Donald Davis, 86, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, Feb. 24, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Family will greet guests one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be held at 2:00 PM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. 

Don was born to Esther (Bitz) and Phillip Davis. He graduated from Hazelton High School in 1956. He owned and operated A&D Trucking for 31 years. 

Don was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1961. He spent two years active duty as an M.P. and four years in the reserves. Don proudly provided military color guard services at many parades and area events and was active in the American Legion throughout his life. 

On October 14, 1964, Don married Arlene Dykema. They made their home in Hazelton. 

Don lived a life of community involvement, whether serving as a volunteer fireman, helping Arlene in the coffee shop, taking tickets at school events or helping at Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where he was a life-long member. As members of Fords and Mustangs of Dakota and Pioneer Auto Club, Don and Arlene enjoyed cruising to car shows with friends in one of their classic Mustangs. He was also an aviation and train enthusiast. 

Don’s surviving family members include his wife of 60 years, Arlene; brothers, Vern and Tom (Stephanie); sisters, Kay Oldenburger and Fran (Wayne) Sorenson; in-laws, John, Dennis (Doris), Elizabeth, Jean and Marlene Dykema, and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, Abel and Willmina Dykema; in-laws, Beverly Davis, Marvin, Louis and Orville Dykema, Monica Dykema and nieces, Debra Oldenburger and Arlis Perry.
