Donald Zacher

July 26, 1939 — January 24, 2025

Donald F. Zacher, 85, of Garrison, ND and Henderson, NV, passed away on January 24, 2025, at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck, ND surrounded by family.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 - 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. A prayer service will begin at 3:00 PM.

Burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 3, 2025, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Donald was born on July 26, 1939, in Elgin, ND to Reinhold and Emily Zacher. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Elgin High School in 1957. He joined the National Guard where he was an Aerial Photographer.

He married Florence A. Volk on March 3, 1962. He worked for Singer, and they travelled the state starting up new Singer Stores. Donald and Florence settled in Bismarck, where he worked for Allied Van Lines for 33 years.

He enjoyed being at his lake cabin, boating and making memories with friends and family. He valued the time spent hunting with his nephews near the family farm. Also, he found joy in traveling, skydiving, white-water rafting, zip lining, and especially loved his garden, roses, and birds.

Donald is survived by his wife of 62 years, Florence; daughters, Tamerin Wilcox of Port Arthur, TX, Laurie (Dan) Savageau of Fargo, ND; son, Curt Zacher of Garrison, ND; grandchildren, Jessica, Melissa, Dillon, Kate, Seth, and Shayla; and sisters, Doris (Eldon) Dahl of Huron, SD, Marcella Dahl of West Fargo, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reinhold and Emily Zacher; sister, Evelyn Horst; and brother, Gary Zacher.
