Donna Ellison

Donna Mae (Becker) Ellison passed peacefully on December 29, 2024, after a brief illness. Donna was a truly kind and caring person who loved life and all it entails.

Donna was born in Wishek, ND on January 24, 1962, to John and Delores Becker of Napoleon, ND. Donna attended Napoleon High School and the University of Mary. She married Darcy Rau on October 30, 1982. They farmed and ranched near Napoleon and were blessed with two children, Danette, and David. Her husband Darcy passed on November 28, 1997.

On September 4, 1999, Donna was remarried to Bruce Ellison. They moved to Bismarck where Donna worked in State Government for Bismarck State College, the Governor's office, and most recently the North Dakota Oilseed Council where she retired in 2024. She always enjoyed volunteering for multiple groups including Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and The Closet 701. Her friends and family were very dear to her and were always a growing group.

Donna’s greatest joy was her grandchildren. "The monkeys are coming over” was a favorite saying around the house. Donna and Bruce were blessed with 13 wonderful grandchildren who are all “above average”. Donna and Bruce wintered in Gold Canyon, AZ where they made many wonderful friends. Another example of her ever-growing group of friends and family.

Donna was preceded in death by her father, John; and her first husband, Darcy. 

She is survived by her husband, Bruce; mother, Delores; children, Danette (Justin), David (Brittany), Grant (Liz), Michael (Keirstin), and Kecia (Austin); and the 13 above average grandchildren who will never forget the love she brought into their lives.

Services will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck, ND, with the Reverend Robert Caranicas officiating. Visitation will precede the funeral at 10:00 AM.
