Donna Martinucci-Sickler

January 15, 1941 — August 10, 2023

Donna M. Sickler, 82, Bismarck, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023 due to natural causes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, August 16 at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 520 Raymond St., Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00PM, with a prayer service starting at 7:00PM, Tuesday, August 15, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.

Donna was born January 15, 1941, in Mandan, the daughter of William and Pauline (Stroh) Riedinger. She was raised in Mandan and attended Mandan High School, where she graduated in 1960. Donna married Delmar A. Martinucci on February 20, 1963, and together they celebrated 18 years of marriage and had two children. Donna was widowed in 1981, and remarried on June 7, 1996 to Joseph J. Sickler, Jr.,  Joe was the light of her life for 22 years before his passing in 2018.

Donna was a devout Catholic and an active member of Cathedral of the Holy Spirit where she served as Extraordinary Minister. She enjoyed dancing, music, volunteering, and was an active member of the Bismarck Eagles Club. Donna received the State Mrs. Eagles award on June 13, 2000 from the State Eagles Auxiliary, and was also nominated by the Bismarck Eagles Auxiliary as Mrs. Eagle on December 10, 2008. Playing piano was one of her true pleasures, and she frequently played for the auxiliary and for personal enjoyment. Donna was an avid card-player, and enjoyed playing pinochle Saturday nights at the Eagles Club. She also enjoyed baking, cake decorating, working in her vegetable garden, reading and doing crossword puzzles.

Donna's greatest joy was being the mother of her two children, and grandmother to her two grandsons, Matthew and Michael. Her home was frequently the gathering place for family and friends, and served as the primary place of celebration during family holidays while her children, nieces and nephews were growing-up. Mom is famously remembered for her hardy laugh and saying "the gang's all here" during family holidays. Her boisterous laugh and infectious smile will truly be missed.

Donna is survived by her two children, Delonce A. Martinucci of Shadyside, MD, Renee (Chris, Matthew, & Michael) Peterson, Denver, CO; sister, Sharon Hogue, Bismarck; brother, Bill Riedinger, Grand Forks;  sister, Paulette (Dave) Hoffer, Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine; both of her husbands, Delmar and Joe; her parents; brother, Jerry, sister-in-law Claudia Riedinger and brother-in-law, Robert Hogue."

Memorials can be sent to: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and the American Stroke Foundation.
