Mom was born on June 28, 1934, the oldest of 12 children, to Arthur and Katherine (Bruce) Hayes. She attended school in Moffit through the 8th grade. She worked as a waitress at the Moffit cafe where she met this handsome shy guy from the River Bottoms, Doug Moffit. She was smitten by this shy guy while he thought she was the prettiest thing he had ever seen. They were married on June 19th, 1954 and spent 54 years together until Dads passing.

She worked as a leave replacement at the USPS in Moffit for 40 years. In 1968, they purchased the Moffit Quality Store which they truly enjoyed. They owned this little store until grandchildren started arriving which switched their priorities a bit.

Two daughters were born to this special union. Carmen and Sheila were the light of their lives, which made their little family complete. The four of us enjoyed singing together in the church choir at the Amelia Bailey Methodist Church, which they were members.

Dad passed away on June 6, 2008. Mom moved into Edgewood Village in December of 2014. She remained there until her passing. She was surrounded there by many people which whom she considered her family.

Mom so enjoyed family time and getting together. Her 90th birthday this past June turned into a huge three-day family reunion, which was a celebration of her life in which she was the spotlight. The memories of that special weekend will forever be a highlight not only in her life but in the life of her entire family as well. A good game of cards was something she was always up for. Her favorite game of dimes was taught to anyone that would take a second to learn and she was always willing to take your dime if you lost. She loved bingo and was a master at the game as the callers at Edgewood could attest too.

She is survived by her two daughters, Carmen (AL) Kary and Sheila (Carl) Robinson), six grandchildren, Jesse (Tracy) Mittleider, Cody (Elaine) Mittleider, Miranda (Randy) Grayson, Holly (Jeremy) Will, Heather (Kyle) Jarvis and Joshua (Cindy) Kary, and 16 great-grandchildren. Her surviving siblings include Eunice Savenko, Ronald (Darlene) Hayes, Gary Hayes, Courtney (Eva) Hayes, Thomas (Leeshia) Hayes, and Terry (Stacy) Hayes, one sister-in-law, Luella Hayes, and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her so.

She was preceded in death by her husband Doug, her parents, Arthur and Katherine Hayes, sister, Colleen Stickney, and her brothers, Duane, Robert (Butch), Arden and Marvin.

A special thank you goes out to the amazing care givers at Edgewood Village who treated her like a Mom. Erin and Courtney, we can’t thank you enough for the heartfelt care that you gave her each and every day when we couldn't be there. Thank you, Shae, for always making yourself available to us and to Mom when we needed something extra. Caring Edge Hospice and Sam our hospice nurse was a Godsend at the end when it was the hardest and how she made sure all of us were doing well.

Rest in eternal peace Mom. You are the best and you did it your way to the end and lived up to your Matriarch status. We love you and give Dad a big hug for us.
