Donna Mae Sharkey

Donna Mae Sharkey, 96, Bismarck, died at Sanford Health on October 29, 2022. Cremation has taken place and at her request there will be no services. Private burial will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Mandan.

She was born September 13, 1926 in Sioux Falls, SD. Her parents were R.J.Caruth and Hanna Brickson Caruth. Moving to Grand Forks, ND in 1927 she attended Wilder School and Central High until moving to Bismarck in 1941 where she graduated from Bismarck High School in 1944. She worked for Dakota Public Service, Montana-Dakota Utilities Co., and the North Dakota State Employment service until 1951. She married F. Stanley Sharkey on November 25, 1949 at St. George’s Episcopal Church, Bismarck, ND. For more than 30 years she was employed at Ritterbush Associates, Architects and Engineers retiring in 1991.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Stan; son, Steve Sharkey, Bismarck, ND; grandson, John R. Sharkey, Washington DC and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Atkinson, McLean, VA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son John C. Sharkey, McLean, VA; sisters, Lois Charboneau, Boise, ID and Roberta Rud, St. Cloud, MN.
