The world lost a light February 7th, 2025, Dorothy Broadwell, 84, passed at her home at Edgewood on Dominion Bismarck ND. She was on Hospice and wanted to be at her home with her family and friends. She left behind many close and amazing friends with her passing and will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, February 13, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will begin at 11:00am until the start of the service.
Dorothy Ellen "Brandt" Broadwell was born on June 29th, 1940, in her family home on a farm in Nortonville, ND, the eldest child of Spencer and Mattie "Foy" Brandt. She was followed by four siblings: Richard Edgar Brandt, Hellen Eileen Brandt, Spencer Albert Brandt, and Thomas Allen Brandt. Dorothy spent much of her life in the Sanborn area, even being crowned "Queen of Sanborn" and riding the 4th of July float one memorable year.
On December 4th, 1958, she married Gordon Broadwell, and they made their home on a farm near Kathryn, ND, where they shared 50 years together. They were blessed with six children: Wendy, Craig, Cory, Lynette, Clay, and Cole, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her five children survive Dorothy: Wendy (Chuck) Ranum, Craig Broadwell, Lynette (Monte) Schaff, Clay Broadwell, Cole (Cindy) Broadwell, thirteen grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, many beloved nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, one son, Cory, and two brothers.
