Dorothy Anne (Nantz) Huss, 95, died December 17, 2019 at the Baptist Care Center in Bismarck.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held in the spring.

Dode was born on July 24, 1924, in Valley City, ND, the daughter of Roy and Maude (Russell) Nantz.  She graduated from high school in Aberdeen, South Dakota.  During WWII, she moved to California where she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” in a walkie talkie factory.

After the war, she returned to Aberdeen and married her boyfriend from their elementary school days, John F. (Jack) Huss on June 8, 1947.  After short stays in Minneapolis and Aberdeen, they moved to Williston, ND, for many years and later settled in Bismarck.

Family and friends were a huge part of Dode’s life.  She entertained, decorated, cooked, and baked with flair.  She was an active member of Lutheran Church of the Cross for many years.

The family would like to thank the wonderful people at the Baptist Health Care Center for their compassionate care for Dode and her family.

Dode is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Steph (Don) Borud, Bismarck, and Laurie and (Jim) Stenehjem, Bismarck; two sons and daughters-in-law, John (Cathy) Huss, Roseau, MN, and Jeff (Diane) Huss of Staunton, VA; eleven grandchildren, Katie (Russ) Marcel, Livermore, CA; Jennie (Pete) Gray, Chicago, IL; Bridget (A.J.)
