Doyle Duane Klimpel

Doyle Duane Klimpel passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. 

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 3, at Open Door Baptist Church, 924 N 11th St, Bismarck. 

Doyle was born July 29, 1940, to Clifford and Bernice (Irwin) Klimpel of rural Sawyer, ND. He was raised on their family farm, tending to animals, crops, and always helping his parents with maintaining a beautiful farmstead. 

Doyle grew up hearing the Word of The Lord and attending Sawyer Baptist Church with his grandma and grandpa Klimpel. He was educated in one-room schoolhouses on the prairies of ND and went on to graduate from Sawyer High School in 1959. 

Doyle obtained his apprenticeship in printing and worked in the printing business for over 50 years. He later on earned his watcher maker’s certificate and enjoyed working on and building many watches and clocks. Upon retirement, he worked with the Parks and Recreation in the maintenance department. 

Doyle enjoyed hunting, antiquing, trade shows, and going to auctions. He loved animals and was an avid history buff. He could fix just about anything and everything. His grandkids would often say “Just take it to grandpa Doyle, he can fix it!” 

Doyle is survived by his wife, Ila (Teigen) Klimpel, of 61 years on July 12, 2024; daughter, Dana (Kurt) Fleck; son, Darcy (Janet) Klimpel; grandchildren, Carlee (Matt) Markel, Caitlin (Lance) Fleck-Noomen, Cole Fleck and X'Avier Vincent; great-granddaughter, Hila Grace Markel, born July 27, 2024 prior to Doyle’s passing; sister, Carlene Theise; step-sister, Lanae (Fernando) Molina; sister-in-law, Evelyn Klimpel; and nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Arthur Klimpel; brothers, Lynton and Gaylon Klimpel; and nephews, Jessy and Corey Klimpel. 

Doyle will forever be remembered for his love and devotion to his family.
