Earl Strehlow, 79, Hettinger, died March 15, 2018, after a battle with cancer. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday March 23, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Msgr. Gene Lindemann officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday March 22 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, at Parkway Funeral Service, where a rosary service will begin at 7:00pm. Earl Eugene Strehlow was born on June 21, 1938 to Ben and Berniece (Krenz) Strehlow, in Hettinger, ND. Earl was the oldest of four children. Earl farmed west of Hettinger with his father until taking over the family farm in 1980. On August 10, 1959 Earl married Jeanette Jordan in Mott, ND. Jeanette and Earl began expanding the family farm into a 200 cow Grade A dairy farm and were one of the first dairy farmers to utilize the newest technology in automatic milking and feeding systems. Earl served on the Cass Clay Board of Directors for 8 years and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In 1992 Earl and Jeanette moved to Bismarck where Earl started work at the State Capitol until he retired in 2000. Earl enjoyed fishing and visiting with everyone he met. No one remained a stranger. Surviving family members include, his wife, Jeanette, Bismarck, ND; his sons, Jeff (Sandy) and Eugene (Dee) Strehlow, Hettinger, ND; his daughter, Linda (Tom) Marion, Hettinger, ND; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce Swenson, Bismarck, ND, Diane Brown, St. Paul, MN, and Shirley (Jerry) Hecker, Sheridan, MT; two brother-in-laws, Ernest (Carol) Jordan and Russell (Marion) Jordan, Mott, ND; six sister-in-laws, Delores (Stanley) Hughes, Hillsboro, IL, Carol (Chris) Voegele, Bowman, ND, Mary (Larry) Messer, Mott, ND, Elaine (Russell) Mather, Bismarck, ND, Ann (Todd) Bortke, Bismarck, ND, Roberta Myhra, Fargo, ND, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Berniece Strehlow, his parents-in-law, John and Ann Jordan; four brothers-in-law, Lawrence, Gary, Marvin, and Wayne Jordan.
