Edward Ross Peltier, 71, of Center, North Dakota (formerly Belcourt, ND), passed away peacefully in his home on February 3, 2020, surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Eagle Heart Log Cabin in Dunseith, ND.
Ed was born in Rolla, North Dakota on January 7, 1949, to Julius and Laura (Parisien) Peltier of Belcourt, North Dakota. Ed graduated from Belcourt High School in 1968. Ed married Dianne Gailfus of Rolla, North Dakota on July 25, 1970. Ed and Dianne had four children together.
Ed was a welder and a pipefitter and a proud union member belonging to Local 300 of Minot, North Dakota. He worked throughout North Dakota and Minnesota during his time as a welder, working for many years in the power plants of North Dakota. He was proud of his work and loved showing his kids his fine art of welding and how steady of a hand he had. He was a natural problem solver able to fix almost anything around the home, including cars and lawn equipment. He loved working with his hands, such as, building decks on his homes and spending time woodworking. The yards of his homes had manicured lawns that were perfectly cut, making neighbors envious of his mowing abilities. He loved to draw and often drew portraits of his loved ones; you knew if he drew a picture of you, you meant a lot to him. He was always so proud of both his children and grandchildren's accomplishments, making sure to let them know whenever he saw them. Although he was a natural introvert, he loved to be surrounded by his close friends and family, making all those around him laugh.
Ed is survived by his wife; children Travis (Sherry) Peltier of Rolette, ND; Melissa Peltier (Jamie Demery) of Belcourt, ND; Kristopher (Brandon) Peltier of Brooklyn Park, MN; and Nathan (Amber) Peltier of Bismarck, ND; 10 grandchildren Edward, Kaitie (Dexter), Alyssa (Marcus), Seth, Mackenzie, Maddison, Hailey, Leilani, grandchild coming in April, Dale, and Eliseo; a great-grandchild Mila, and a great-grandchild coming in March; sister Alice (Gary) Flemmer of Bismarck; sister Julianne DeAsis of Edmonds, WA; brother Pat (Linda) Peltier of Rolette, ND; brother Kurt (Carla) Peltier of Belcourt, ND; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Sydney, and godson and nephew Dustin Peltier.
