Edwin A. Bender, 77, Bismarck, went to see Jesus on April 15, 2018, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Friday, April 20, at Church of the Ascension, 1825 S. 3rd St., Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr. Jim Braaten officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, April 19, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm. Edwin was born May 3, 1940, in Braddock, ND. He met the love of his life, Charlotte Ehli, and they were married on June 15, 1973, and lived in Bismarck. He worked for the Naaden Ranch for years. He later worked for the Highway Department until retirement. Edwin enjoyed puzzles and collecting toy cars and trucks. Edwin is survived by his wife, Charlotte; seven brothers and three sisters, Harry (Joyce), Bismarck, Lorraine Eisenbarth, Bismarck, Andrew, Seattle, WA, Angie (Willie) Hilzendeger, Bismarck, Willie (Carol) and Donnie (Pam), both of Seattle, Charlene (Kenneth) Fetzer, Bismarck, Larry, Bismarck, Tom (Sue), Mandan, and Jim (Annette), Bismarck; several aunts and an uncle; numerous nieces and nephews on his side of the family as well as Charlotte’s, all whom he loved very much. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Caroline Bender; sister-in-law, Dorinda Bender; brother-in-law, Darwin Eisenbarth; and nephew, Matthew Bender.
