Edwin “Ed” Landeis was born March 1, 1937, to Ralph and Flora Landeis in Mandan. He was raised on a farm west of Mandan and educated at a small country school until the eighth grade, when he returned to the farm to help his family. Ed later earned his G.E.D. and went on to enter to the U.S. Army in 1961. He served in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1963. When he returned home, he met the love of his life, Gloria. They were joined together in marriage in 1972. Soon later, they were blessed with two sons: Jason and Sheldon. During Ed and Gloria’s marriage, Ed worked many construction jobs until he proudly became a Boilermaker with the Local 647. He helped build and repair local power plants as well as some in Minnesota. He retired from the union at age 68 and simply enjoyed life. Ed loved to go to auctions, watch a good western, go for drives, look at “stuff,” and always enjoyed a good meal. Family was always important to Ed, and his great kindness and good humor will be remembered fondly. Ed and Gloria truly loved and enjoyed each other's company throughout their entire marriage and are happily reunited in Heaven.
Ed is survived by his sons, Jason (Kim) Landeis and Sheldon (Karri) Landeis; grandchildren, Elliott and Wyatt Landeis and Ellie and Abby Landeis; siblings, Bernice Hilfer and Herman Landeis, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; parents, Ralph and Flora Landeis; sister, Isabelle Mack; and brother, William Landeis.
