Eileen Hickcox

Eileen Hickcox, 90, died after a struggle with chronic aging on October 22, 2019 at the St. Vincent's Care Center in Bismarck, ND. She was born March 1st,1929 in Napoleon, ND  to George and Alvina (Wolff) Granas and was raised and educated there with her older sister Helen (Ritter).  Eileen attended business college in Fargo before moving to Sioux Falls, where she met her life-long love Robert Hickcox.  They married Feb 2, 1955 and lived for a short time near Gann Valley, SD before moving to Bismarck in the fall of 1958 to raise their sons Rodney, Gary, and David.   She worked at the ND Teacher's Retirement Fund for many years until her retirement.  She was preceded in death by husband Robert, son David, and step-granddaughter Breanna Larson (Gary), in addition to her sister Helen, niece Kathy Lane, and nephew Bruce Ritter.

Eileen is survived by sons Rodney (JoAnn Dolezal), Bismarck; Gary (Wendy Larson) Sioux Falls; and grandsons Brandon (Kathie Olson), Bismarck, Michael (Amy Larson), Plymouth, MN, great-granddaughter Addie (Brandon), step-granddaughters Sabrina and Nicole (David) and nieces Sharon and Corey.

Eileen is birth mother to John Metcalf, Austin, TX, (deceased), and Becky Mayes, Burbank, CA, who were born prior to Eileen's marriage to Robert.  She was grateful that they were adopted by loving parents and grew to became parents themselves. 

Cremation and a private memorial service, with internment at the ND Veterans Cemetery, has taken place.
