Elaine Ada Arndt

Elaine Ada Arndt, 77, Steele, passed away March 26, 2018, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck, surrounded by her loving family. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, March 30, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tappen, with Rev. Gerhardt Juergens officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Fisher Cemetery, Tappen. Visitation will be held from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm Thursday, March 29, at Eastgate-Steele Memorial Chapel, Steele, where a prayer service will begin at 5:30 pm. Elaine was born March 22, 1941, in Windom, MN, the daughter of Dave and Ada Schmiess. She grew up and went to school in Leith, ND. Elaine married Carlyle Arndt on January 26, 1958; the couple made their home on a farm south of Hardin, MT, and were blessed with two boys. In 1998, they moved back to North Dakota, making their home in Steele. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and working in her garden. Elaine is survived by her husband, Carlyle, Steele; her children, Perry (Arlene), Mandan, and Clinton (Tracy), Jamestown; five grandchildren, Jarrid (Christina), Lacey, Cole, Ryan (Madaline), Trisha (Bobby), one step-grandchild, Ashley, and nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Norma Hill; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law; and her brother, Merle.
