Elda M. Link, 100, passed away on October 15, 2024, at Baptist Health and Rehab in Bismarck while enjoying one of her favorite past times, playing bingo.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, Oct. 21, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave, Bismarck.
Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Elda was born May 30, 1924, near Beulah, ND, in Mercer County, to Jacob and Carolina (Koenig) Pfennig. She was raised and educated in the Beulah area. Elda worked for many local farm families helping to haul hay, husk corn, milk cows, work during harvest, can produce and care for their children. On April 26, 1943, Elda married Walter J. Link in Beulah. She moved with her parents to the Driscoll, ND area while Walter was serving in the army during WWII. When he returned, they lived in Driscoll until moving to Bismarck in 1967. Elda worked for St. Alexius Hospital for 10 years and Bismarck Jr. College from 1977 until her retirement in 1984. For the next six and half years, Elda babysat for the Darrell Dorgan family. Walter died in Bismarck on October 10, 1988. She went to live at the Terrace in September of 2019 and then to Baptist Health and Rehab in December of 2019.
Elda had a zest for life and enjoyed filling it with visiting with her friends, crocheting, playing cards and bingo. Music was a big part of her life and she entertained many with her piano, organ and accordion playing.
Gifted with a great personality and sense of humor, Elda had many friends. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her friends and family. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, LaRue (Robert) Odenbach of Jamestown, Marvel Lue (Harold) Harter and Sharon Link of Bismarck; grandsons, Rick (Grace) Baker, Danan, Derek (Staci), Devin, and David Harter, and Christopher Link; granddaughters, Caroline (Marcus) Roehrich, Billijo Link and Lezlie (Parker) Scott; step-grandsons, Jason (Carrie) and Matt (Danielle) Odenbach; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Wilbur (Mavis) Pfennig; and sister-in-law, Bobbie (Harold) Pfennig.
Elda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; son, James; brothers, Ervin, Melvin, Harold and Elden Pfennig; and sisters, Irma Morast, Lorraine Seager and Vera Blaisdell.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Baptist Health for their loving care of Elda as well as those who visited her, took her out for drives, lunch and dinner.
