She attended country school and Wilton High School. Betty worked at several businesses in Bismarck with the majority of her working career conducted at the North Dakota State Bank Examiner Department where she became office supervisor and ultimately retired from that position. Betty (Hansen) and Morris Brostrom were married in Wilton on May 25, 1953. They made their home in Bismarck and became active members of the First Presbyterian Church. In addition to her employment, Betty and Morris ran a farming operation in the Wilton area for many years. Betty was a constant source of love, commitment, sharing, strength, and inspiration to her family and friends. She was always available to help when help was needed. Betty had a wealth of experience mending fences of the both the literal and figurative kind. She was known to be freely willing to offer a heartfelt compliment and, if warranted, honest well-deserved criticism. Her sons will attest to her excellent ability to provide well measured discipline with compassion, guidance when needed, and support toward all that they strived for. Betty greatly enjoyed visiting her grandchildren in Minnesota and participating in the cooking, sewing, crafts, reading, teaching, and play activities that always transpired on those visits. Her love of her family was felt even in her absence through the generous supply of baked goods she always left when returning to North Dakota. In all that she did, she always made sure that everyone was taken care of, considered, and not left out.
