Elvira was born the daughter of Rudolph and Helen Engel on August 8, 1934 in Wing. She was one of 13 children.
She married Billy Leno of Tuttle in October 1952. They had two daughters. After a tragic accident in 1957, she became a widow and a single mother. She and her daughters moved to Bismarck where she opened a home daycare. She loved the kids she took care of and to this day some of them still call her Auntie or Grandma and kept in touch.
In October 1976 Elvira married Delton Bratz and moved to Coleharbor. She cooked at the 83 Café Coleharbor and in Underwood for many years. After Delton passed away she moved back to Bismarck. She spent her time volunteering for many organizations. She played BONCO and cards with her friends.
Elvira enjoyed gardening and canning the vegetables she grew. This last year she made fleece blankets for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking German food and showing her grandson how to make it. She loved watching the NDSU Bison football games.
Elvira is survived by her daughters, Susan Martin and Terral “Terry” (Jim) Frieboes; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four sisters.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Billy and Delton; her parents; eight brothers and sisters; and one great-granddaughter Alicyn Frieboes.
