Emerson James Schlag, 2 months, Bismarck, passed peacefully on December 18, 2017, in the arms of his parents, at the Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am Friday, December 22, at Church of St. Joseph, 108 3rd St NE, Mandan, with Rev. Shane Campbell officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 am at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, December 21, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm. Emerson was born on October 12, 2017, with a left-sided congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). Emerson suffered many complications throughout his time here on earth, but he always showed those who were caring for him that he was a fighter, something that will never be forgotten. He was always very content watching what everyone was doing around him and listening to music. He cherished all the times he was able to cuddle with his loved ones and hold their hands. Emerson will be deeply missed by those he left behind, including his parents, Joshua and Kimberly Schlag; his brother, Benson Schlag; his grandparents, Thomas and Cindy Pazdernik, Mandan, Traci Schlag and Mike Bryant, Mandan; his aunts and uncles, Kayla and Slade Ternes, Beulah, Kendra and Adam Stein, Beulah, and Kayla Bryant and fiancé, Erik King, Mandan; and his cousin, Abrietta Ternes, Beulah.
