Emmy was born on June 13, 1929, and was raised in Minnesota. After graduating in 1947 from Gwinner High School, she moved to Bismarck to work at the State Capitol. In 1948, she met and married Herman Wolf, and together they had five children.
Emmy was a gentle soul, loved by many. Her grandchildren adored her and her cookies, special K bars, lefse, and rosettes! Along with cooking and baking, she had a lot of other talents. She loved to read, and her book collection was substantial. Her Minnesota cousins always enjoyed getting big boxes of books in the mail that Emmy had read and was passing along. She not only loved to sew, but was also very talented in hardanger stitch-work. Sometimes one piece would be so detailed that it would take her all year to finish. She loved painting. Emmy painted 100’s of canvas paintings in her lifetime. She never lost her love for learning. In her mid 60’s she took piano lessons to improve her piano skills. Emmy always enjoyed sitting down at the piano and playing hymns.
The highlight of her summers were her days spent at the Minnesota lake cabin. Being at the lake gave Emmy much happiness. It was also a place of gathering for her entire family. Her other favorite daily pastime was drinking coffee and visiting with her many coffee lady friends.
Emmy loved to have family come over for Christmas Eve celebrations at her home. She wanted the whole family to celebrate together - and, of course, everyone loved that as she would always have a lot of homemade baked goodies. Times with Emmy were always filled with love, laughter, and plenty of Uffdas!
Emmy is survived by her children, Sara Wolfe, Marcia (Dennis) Lang, Steve Wolf; grandchildren, Brandon Schneider, Robin (Scott) Olson, Ryan (Joani) Rieger, Cortney (Kyla) Schneider, Steven Wolf, Mary (Lucas) Ott; granddaughter-in-law, Carrie Schneider; 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; brother, Silas (Betty) Moen; sister, Grace (Norman) Tosseth; daughter, Diane Rieger; son, Ronald Wolf; daughter-in-law, Helen Wolf; grandson, Shanahan Schneider and grandson, Joshua Rieger.
