Ethel was born and raised in Butte, MT, and was the 11th of 12 children. She worked for Butte Stock Exchange until she met the love of her life, John. They were married on April 4, 1948 in Butte and started their life in New England, ND, then on to Leith. In 1952, they settled in Moffit for the next 35 years.
Ethel was involved with the community Rainbow Homemakers, bowling leagues. She enjoyed crocheting, (she made prayer blankets for her church) bingo and trips to the casino. Most of all she loved beating her daughter in Scrabble.
After moving to Bismarck in 1985 she worked at the Bismarck Civic Center box office, was a member of “Tops” Chapter and was crowned state queen.
Ethel enjoyed having her children and grandchildren around. She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially pastries. Ethel was a devout Catholic and prayer was a daily routine for her. She learned to love the ND prairies but her first love was the Rocky Mountains around Butte, Montana.
Ethel is survived by sons, David, Rory (Leeanne) and Paul (Marie); favorite daughter, Renee (Carter); nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, John; sons, Tim and Jon; great-granddaughter, Sylvia Grace; daughter-in-law, Cathy; and her grandson, Benjamin.
Love like a beautiful song echoes in the heart when the last note is silent.
