Van L. Sauter

Evangeline "Van" Sauter, 91, Bismarck, passed away on September 14, 2024.

Private services will be held at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Van was born on October 14,1932 in Goodrich, ND, the daughter of August "Shorty" and Mary Biech (Krein). She graduated from Tuttle High School, then went on to College in Jamestown, earning a teaching certificate. 

Van married Duane Sauter on November 11 ,1952 in Tuttle, ND. 

She worked as a teacher's aid and later, director of the day care center at United Tribes in Bismarck.

Van especially loved gardening and restoring antique furniture. She enjoyed writing, especially poetry. She was an excellent cook, making the old world recipes of Germans from Russia. 

Van was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bismarck.

She was preceded in death by her, husband Duane; her daughter, Candy; and brother Ruben. 

She is survived by her two sons, Dwight and Kyle; and her sisters Delores Leno and Fern Batterberry. She has two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
