Evelyn Delzer, 90, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2019 at Sunset Drive Prospera Care Center in Mandan, ND. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, April 26, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, April 25, at Parkway Funeral Service. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Evelyn was born on January 19, 1929, in Zeeland, ND to William and Lydia Fuehrer. She graduated from Linton High School in 1947. Evelyn married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Delzer on August 8, 1954 in Bismarck, ND where they made their home. Evelyn was active in her Ladies Church Circle. She enjoyed seasonal work at the tax department for the state of ND for many years. Evelyn was also active in the First United Methodist Church, McCabe United Methodist Church, National Campers and Hikers Association (NCHA), and the Good Sam Club. Evelyn enjoyed sewing, crafting, camping, socializing with friends, and staying close with her grandchildren. Her grandson, Sean, fondly remembers her as “team grandma” as she made every effort to attend her grandchildren’s activities. Granddaughter Brittney remembers how she was always doing crafts with her and had a huge arsenal of bubbles that they loved to blow together. Evelyn loved going out for dinner with her husband and family on a regular basis. She will always be remembered for her steadfast faith, her commitment to her family, and how she loved to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Evelyn is survived by her two daughters, Lori (Mike) Wavrin, Omaha, NE and Lois (Cordel) Backman, Bismarck, ND; her four grandchildren, Sean (Kristin) Wavrin, Omaha, NE, Jenna (Daniel) Berg, Albuquerque, NM, and Brittney and Cody Backman, Bismarck, ND; and her two great-grandchildren, Kashtin and Kennlee Wavrin. She is also survived by her brother, Edwin Fuehrer, Grand Forks, ND; and nephews, William (Bill) and Richard (Ric) Fuehrer and niece, Brenda Clark. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Bob; her sister-in-law, LaDora Fuehrer; and her great-granddaughter, Everlee Wavrin. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be given in Evelyn’s name to the Ronald McDonald House Charities 609 N 7th St, Bismarck, ND 58501.
