Floyd Bitz, 93, of Edgewood Vista, Bismarck, went into God's arms Tuesday, March 27, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 3, at Church of the Ascension, 1825 S 3rd St., Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr. James Braaten officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm Monday, April 2, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a vigil service will begin at 6:30 pm. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Floyd was born in Rural Hazelton, ND, on Oct. 14, 1924, to Elizabeth and Emanuel Bitz. He was the youngest of 5 children and completed the 8th grade going to country school. Floyd helped his Dad with the ranching and also trucked cattle in later years. He married Viola Wolf on June 28, 1951. Together they farmed and ranched, raising crops and cattle until they retired to Bismarck in 1989. Floyd loved to hunt and fish. After retiring, he and Viola enjoyed being part of a Senior Bowling League and visiting the casino. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed building replica farm implements from scratch. The moved into Edgewood a few years ago and made many new friends that he enjoyed visiting with about the old times and talked about how proud he was of his two granddaughters. Floyd is survived by his wife of 66 years,Viola; his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Parnel Plante; his granddaughters, Ashley (Mike) Schumacher and Courtney (Alex Sieberg); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and two brothers.
