Frances Grimm, 81, Bismarck, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2017.Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 19, at 1:00 PM at First Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Pastor Allen Wagner officiating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service where a prayer service will begin at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.Fran was born on March 21, 1936, in Jamestown, ND, the daughter of Agnes and Clarence Christensen. She was raised on the family farm, in Medina ND. She graduated from Medina High School in 1954. She spent several years in Jamestown where she met Ernest Grimm. They married in 1962. They moved to Bismarck and purchased a home, where Fran continued to live after Ernest passed away in 1974.Fran worked in the Bismarck Public School System for many years in the main kitchen, and as the head cook at Richholt Elementary where her grandchildren attended. Fran loved getting to see her grandchildren every day during this time. Fran enjoyed bowling and participated in a women’s league for many years where lifelong friendships were made.She retired May 25, 2001. She enjoyed traveling to the casino with friends and spending time at the senior center where she enjoyed playing bunco and bingo. Fran had a love and talent for cooking and baking.She is survived by her daughter, Melody Francis of Bismarck; son Rick (Hannah) Grimm of Kalispell, MT; grandchildren, Holly (Josh) Overson, Angela (Jeremy) Dockter, Michael (Jessica) Wolf, Susan (Chad) Swenson, all of Bismarck, and Freya Grimm of Kalispell, MT; great-grandchildren, Nakiel, Kiara, Braden, Logan, Izaya, Avery, Zanen, Hudson, and Bria; siblings, Ardis Hochhalter, Betty Dahl, Mary (Dennis) Giesler, Beth (Dan) Snow, Debra Nienow, Clarence, Larry (Mary) Christensen, and Gordon (Betty) Christensen; many nieces and nephews; as well as a very special friend, Fred Sommerfeld.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; son, Michael Hochhalter; sisters, Crystel and Ruth; and brother, Roy.
