Frances was born at home in Odense, ND to Henry and Bertha (Kary) Hoffman on January 4, 1930. She graduated from Solen High School in 1948, and in her senior year she was crowned the “Fall Princess.”
She married the love of her life, Jack Thomas, on November 15, 1948. From that love, five children were born: Jackie (Don) Faith, Al (Sheri) Thomas, Kevin (Donna) Thomas, Becky (Bud) Heinert, and DeeDee Barr (Troy Heitman). Ten grandchildren, Scott (Marisa) Faith, Toni (Colin) Weganast, Christy (Dan) Bitz, Jesse Thomas, Andrea (Steve) Berger, Cody (Nicole) Thomas, Nikki (Rob) Wegner, Nancy (Lee) Nelson, Alec (Karina) Barr, Kyle (Ashley) Barr, and an honorary grandchild, Teresa Quist. She also had 17 great-grandchildren.
Frances was a stay at home mom, and with us five kids, she had her hands full!
She loved to play pinochle. Her and Jack never missed a Saturday night of dancing at the Bismarck Eagle’s Club. She was known for her famous caramel rolls, chocolate chip cookies, sugar kuchen, and Jack’s favorite—her apple pie. She also enjoyed embroidering dishtowels. Each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all received a set until her health declined.
In addition to her immediate family, Frances is survived by her siblings, Rose Beehler, George (Arlene) Hoffman, Simon (Margaret) Hoffman, Lillian Sander, and Gene (Pat) Hoffman; and her sister-in-law, Angeline Feist.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; and her parents, Henry and Bertha.
