Francis Fischer, 87, died June 17, 2019 at St. Vincent’s Care Center, Bismarck.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday June 25, 2019 at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N 2nd St, Bismarck.  

Visitation will be held from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm on Monday June 24, 2019 at St. Vincent’s Care Center, 1021 N 26th St, Bismarck.  

Visitation will also be from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 East Divide Avenue, Bismarck, where a vigil/rosary will begin at 7:00 pm.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery at 12:30 pm on Tuesday June 25, 2019.

Francis Fischer was born April 13, 1932, the son of Joseph and Agatha Fischer in Hague, ND. He grew up and attended school in Hague and graduated from Hague High School. He served during the Korean Conflict in the US Army as a tank operator.

He married Rose Fischer in Hague, ND. After their marriage they moved to Bismarck. Francis would follow in his father’s footsteps and worked as a mail carrier with the Post Office, retiring after 32 years of service. After 31 years of marriage Rose passed away in 1985. Following his retirement from the post office, Francis enjoyed his part time work with Wheeler Wolf Law Firm for 19 years.

In 1989, Francis married Tillie Geiger in Mandan.

Francis enjoyed many things including music ranging from classical to country, visiting with family and friends, and football. An important part of Francis’ life was practicing his Catholic faith through prayer and serving at daily Mass.

Francis is survived by his wife, Tillie; his son, Ronald (Maria); grandson, Matthew (Abbie); great-grandchildren, Lucas, Eli, Asher, Mattie Beth, Finn; his grandson, Jacob (Kacy); great-grandchildren, Jacob, Victoria, Adeline; grandson, Joshua; his daughter, Sheila (Mark) Reierson; grandchildren, Ben (Christine), Ted, and Andrew (Eile); step daughter, Pamela (Kaare) Gaustad; step grandchildren, Dakota, Riley, Cooper and Tucker; his step daughter-in-law, Margaret Riehl; his brother, Rodney (Carolyn); sisters, Rosemarie Erling and Betty Ann (Virgil) Hardy; sister-in-law, Alicia Fischer; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, William and Paul (Elaine); and stepson, Adam Geiger.
