Francis Lauber, 92, passed away on Oct. 26, 2020 at St. Alexius, Bismarck. Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30 at Christ the King, 505 10th Ave NW, Mandan. A recording of the funeral service will be available soon after the service.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29 at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck. A rosary/vigil service will begin at 7 p.m.
Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Francis Edward Lauber was born on Sept. 18, 1928 in Jamestown to Nels and Katharina (Keller) Lauber.
He went to work at an early age and settled on the railroad as a career. He was a proud member of the National Guard and was called to active duty during the Korean Conflict. After an honorable discharge, he returned to the railroad in Jamestown as a machinist. In 1971 he was transferred to Mandan and finished his 46 years of service on the railroad.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of 71 years; daughter, Julie (Lynn) Kjelshus; daughter-in-law, Diane (Paul) Nieuwsma; six grandchildren, Travis (Stacy), Torry, Tim (Molly Benton) Kjelshus, Teresa (Nate) Johnson, Traci (Tim Doll) and Jami (Todd Taylor); nine great-grandchildren, Madilyn and Lauren Kjelshus, Landan Johnson, Riley and Regan Taylor, Zola Mae, Haydyn, Danyka, and Donavan Doll; stepgrandaughter, Nicoole Patrick, and her children, Tjaden and Jazmyn Smith, JayLynn and Jaxon Patrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and his wife; and son, James.
