Francis Streifel, 90, Bismarck, died peacefully on April 29, 2018, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, May 3, at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave., Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Wednesday, May 2, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Francis was born June 14, 1927, to Joseph and Anna Marie (Feist) Streifel in Zeeland, ND. He was proud to have served in the US Army during the Korean War. Francis married Marie Engelhart on October 19, 1953, at St. John’s Catholic Church, rural Zeeland. He worked at McIntosh County Bank in Zeeland throughout his career as a branch manager and also served on the board of directors. Marie died tragically in a car accident on May 29, 1998. Francis was a very active member of the Zeeland civic and church community as a Zeeland City Councilman, City Auditor, assessor, volunteer fireman, member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Lions. With his church, he was a councilman, member of St. Andrew’s Church building committee, and a longtime lector. He married Marcella Volk on September 23, 2000. Francis was a very talented man who was always busy. He enjoyed woodworking, loving to build things, especially woodturning; and was a member of the Bismarck Wood Turners. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening, camping (Missouri Breakers Good Sam Club), and bowling. He continued to bowl well into his 80s in two leagues a week. Blessed to have shared his life are his wife, Marcella; his children, Sharon (Gerry) Fisher, James (Cheryl) Streifel, Nancy (Greg) Vollan, all of Bismarck, and Kathleen (Paul) Graham, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; grandchildren, Shannon Fisher, Stephanie (Eric) Abel, Scott (Simone) Fisher, Alexandra Streifel, Christina (fiancé Sam LaBine) Streifel, Courtney Vollan, Jade Vollan, Kara (Jason) Geurts, Corrinn Graham, Kristopher Graham, Kyhlie Graham; brother, William Streifel, Aberdeen, SD; sister, Pauline Crandall, La Habra, CA; along with his stepchildren, LeRoy Volk, Willie Volk, Marie Job, Jerome Volk, Theresa Haugen, Gerard Volk, and Anthony Volk. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; his sister, Lillian Singh; brother, Aloysius Streifel; his in-laws, Dolores Streifel, Marcella Zundel, and John Engelhart.
