Fred Anstrom, 91, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023, at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck.
A memorial service the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery has been held.
Fred was born in Bismarck, on February 1, 1932, to Fred and Florence (Johnson) Anstrom. He grew up in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1950. He was passionate about sports. He participated in football, basketball, baseball and track. His sports scrap book is full of many wonderful memories.
Fred graduated from Bismarck State College. He attended the University of North Dakota and graduated from the University of Minnesota Dental School in 1957. He returned to Bismarck and worked for Krause, Lauer, Lauer and Lee prior to opening his own dental practice in downtown Bismarck.
Fred kept up sports and loved a good card game. He could frequently be found at the Elks and loved to watch high school and college sports. He enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada with good friends. He kept active, and never missed a workout. Fred was a wonderful uncle. Growing up there were many after school trips to the Dairy Queen, conveniently located across Washington Street, and Saturday morning trips to the mall.
In retirement, Fred enjoyed many winters in Arizona, where he would visit his sister and niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Florence, his brother John, sister Meredith and niece Julie Baarstad Michels.
He is survived by his niece, Lore Baarstad.
