Fred was born on January 16, 1945, in Fargo, to Fred and Dorothy Meyers. He grew up on a farm and graduated from Glyndon High School. He graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in accounting and business administration.
He was part of the Mensa Organization. He was Jaycee member. After college, Fred worked as an insurance auditor for Blue Cross of ND, then he worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of ND. He climbed the corporate ladder becoming the CFO. He moved to Bismarck for the CEO job at Quain and Ramstad Multi Specialty Clinic. Fred genuinely cared for his employees and would spend time with them. One of his phrases was “if not now, then when.” He was always thinking and doing things to find solutions. After the merger of Q&R Clinic with Med Center One Hospital, he started his own company: FHM Equipment, LLC.
Fred enjoyed helping his friend, George, work their cattle and go to the cattle sales. He collected all different types of antiques so you would see him at auctions. He played golf with friends. He even won a Pro AM Tournament with Payne Stuart. He rode motorcycles, ATVs, Jet Skis and snowmobiles. He would spend time on the water, fishing, boating and swimming.
Fred married his present wife, Jeanette, on March 25, 1995, in Las Vegas. Together they shared many fun travels. Their lake cabin in Detroit Lakes was where they liked to spend time with family in the summer. He was and is the love of her life.
Fred is the father of three wonderful children: Fred (Darcy), Rylan and Lacey, who he had with Carrol Dobler. He has eight grandchildren: Levi, Tré, Alexis, Tyler, Elijah, Madison, McKenzie and Aberlee that he adored. He was the second oldest of nine siblings: Carolee, Tom, Linda, Glenn, Roger, Kathryn, Debbie and Dean.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dorothy Meyers; siblings, Carolee, Roger, Debbie; and his son, Rylan.
