Freida Heiser

Freida Heiser, of Bismarck passed away December 9, 2023 at the age of 96.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 6:30 PM -7:30 PM, Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023 at Parkway Funeral Service and continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Freida Bitz was born July 23, 1927 in Eureka, SD, the daughter of Katherine (Schock) and John Bitz. She was brought up on the family farm south of Eureka and received her formal education at Bauer township school in rural Eureka and later in life obtained a GED.

She married Walter H. Heiser on March 30, 1948. They resided in Eureka, SD. She was employed at the Lutheran Home as a nurse’s aide. In 1985 she and Walter relocated to Bismarck, ND and she obtained employment at Missouri Slope Nursing home and was employed there until her retirement.

Freida enjoyed baking, cooking, craft projects, visiting with family and friends, doing puzzles, search a word, art therapy, coloring books, and reading. During her retirement years she volunteered at the Burleigh County Senior Center doing crocheting, knitting, and plastic work. She crocheted many hats and mittens that were annually donated to under privileged children in local schools.

She lived independently in her home until age 93, in September 2020 she moved to Edgewood assisted living and resided there until her passing.

Freida is survived by her sons Kenneth (Loralee) Heiser, Jerome (Genine) Heiser, Rodney (Sarah) Heiser, Karlis (Kathy) Heiser and one daughter JoAnn Heiser. Fourteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, two great- great- grandchildren and five step grandchildren. One brother in law Floyd Heiser of Aberdeen, SD and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, one son Merle, one grandson Clayton Heiser, her parents, three brothers Henry, Edwin, and Arthur Bitz, six sisters Caroline Schmauder, Rose Blanchett, Lydia Brink, Alma Strobel, Martha Schrenk, Ann Ehresman, and two infant siblings John and Elizabeth.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that a memorial in Freida’s name be given to the Burleigh County Senior Center.
