Gary Beazley

September 22, 1942 — April 22, 2018

Gary William Beazley, PE of Bismarck, North Dakota left this earth on April 22, 2018. Services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, April 26, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 25, at Parkway Funeral Service. He was born in Washington, D.C. on September 22, 1942. Gary joined the Air Force in 1959 and was stationed in various locations throughout the world. His final station was in Minot, ND, where he met Esther Erickson in 1963. They fell in love and were married on April 12, 1964. Gary and Esther recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.  Shortly after marriage, they moved to Houston, Texas where Gary worked on the space simulation chambers when the NASA Base was being built.  He then earned his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston in 1968. Following graduation they moved to Greeley, Colorado where Cara, their first and only daughter was born in 1969. Shortly after Cara was born they moved to Minot, as Gary had secured a position with Schmidt, Smith and Rush as a mechanical engineer. In 1972 their first and only son, Eric was born, and in 1974 they moved to Bismarck where Gary took a job at Dunham Associates as the branch manager. By 1985 Gary and Esther realized one of their long-time dreams and started their own engineering company, Beazley Engineering, in Bismarck, ND. They successfully built their own business and worked closely together at Beazley Engineering until they sold the company in 2015. Gary and Esther retired together in May 2017. He loved being an engineer and was very proud of every project he had worked on throughout the course of his career. Gary was so passionate about his work that he continued working part time on select engineering projects even in retirement. Gary was happiest when he was fishing, boating, going to the lake, spending time with his grandkids and while enjoying time when the whole family was together. He loved all kinds of music and listening to mystery/detective books on CD in his vehicle. Gary was especially happy when he was travelling to new places all over the world with his family. Gary was a proud husband, dad and grandpa. He is survived by his soul mate and best friend Esther Beazley; his daughter Cara, her children Elaina and Connor; his son Eric, his wife Kate and their children Jack, William, James and Tommy. The family will dedicate memorials to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
