Gene Hanson

Gene Ernest Hanson, 75, of Bismarck, ND and Apache Junction, AZ, passed away July 7th, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Allen Wagner officiating. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. He was born in Woodworth, ND, on June 6th, 1942 to Ernest and Marcella Hanson. Gene graduated from high school in Robinson, and graduated from barber school in Dickinson. Gene married his high school sweetheart, Marlys Hagseth, who preceded him in death. Gene worked 17 years as a barber, 17 years as a Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance Salesman, and 17 years as a grounds keeper for the golf course. He was an avid golfer, and a passionate self-taught photographer. He happily traveled each summer to ND to spend time with family and especially his grandchildren. Gene is survived by his wife, Alice; sons Brian and Jerry (Tammy); nine grandchildren, DeLane, Whittni, Baylee, Allie, Jayden, Jarod, Lukas, Chase, Zachary; 1 brother, Robert (Rosemary). Gene was preceded in death by his first wife, Marlys; daughter, Lori; 1 grandson, Tyler; his parents, three brothers, and his infant sister.
