Gen met Lyle Arthaud while in high school and they were married September 16, 1950, in a double wedding ceremony with Lyle’s brother Robert Arthaud and Barbara Judkins.
Gen and Lyle started their married life in a small two room basement apartment in Bismarck. It was the out-break of the Korean War and Lyle enlisted in the Marine Corps. Gen moved to California to be closer to Lyle who was stationed at Camp Pendleton.

In 1968 the family moved to Hebron, ND with their family of five children. Lyle and Gen purchased a home in Hebron and lived there until 2019 when they moved to Mandan. They moved to Prairie Pointe Assisted Living in Bismarck, in January 2022. Gen enjoyed the activities (playing Gotcha) and made many new friends.
Gen was Hebron’s Avon Lady for 36 years and enjoyed getting to know all the people in Hebron. For several years, Gen was the secretary at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She was also involved in Christian Mothers, was active in a Bridge club, enjoyed activities at the Senior Center, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Gen excelled at oil painting and painted many pictures for family and friends. Gen enjoyed playing pinochle and other card games, fishing, playing Words with Friends, and most of all socializing!
Gen is survived by: her husband, Lyle Arthaud, Bismarck; five children, Steve (Carol) Arthaud, Fargo, ND and their two daughters, Carey Sue (Matt) Hory, and Kayla (Tyler) Gylland, Jerry (Mary) Arthaud, Chula, MO, and their nine children, Rachel (Nate) Geiger, Ben (Sarah) Arthaud, Matt (Kara) Arthaud, Elizabeth and Stephen Garcia, Jonathon (Bethany) Arthaud, Matthew (Lydia) Garcia, Terry (Chelsea) Carr, and Trisha Beck, Greg Arthaud, Blooming Prairie, MN, and his four children, Donovan (Liah) Rieken, Heather Rieken, Matt (Pam) Miller and Brianna Arthaud, Kevin (Kirstin) Arthaud, Bismarck, and their four children, Taylor (Megan) Arthaud, Tanner Arthaud, Kyle Gibson, Nicole (Austin) Muth, Sue (Steve) Hanna, West Fargo, ND, and their two children, Meghan Hanna (Aaron West) and Brandon Hanna (Megan Cox); 24 great grandchildren, with whom she enjoyed spending time with; and her very good friend, Therisa Hauser, who she called “Sister.”
