George A. Becker, 86, Bismarck, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 15, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Friday, July 20, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N 2nd St., Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial is at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, July 19, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. George, son of Anton and Alicia Becker, was born on May 2, 1932; and attended rural schools, Burnstad High School and Napoleon High School. He was united in marriage to Tillie (Odilia) Mitzel on June 22, 1953. They farmed East of Napoleon, South of Burnstad and West of Napoleon. In 1963 he started working as a butcher in the Napoleon Red Owl store. In 1967, George and Tillie moved to Napoleon and purchased the store. George mastered the sausage making process which he and his brothers continued even after his retirement. George was active in the Lions Club, served on the Napoleon Park Board, and was a board member at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. In 1983, they moved to Bismarck where he was employed at Burleigh County Housing, The Terrace and the Bismarck Senior Center. He had many hobbies including fishing, bowling, golfing, playing cards and building snow shovels. He was member of the Bismarck Elks Club and the Bismarck Eagles Club. George made many friends wherever he went, and he and Tillie had an uncanny gift of hospitality. Their love positively touched many lives and his kindness and generosity influenced many people. He is survived by his wife, Tillie; children, Georgia Bedwell, Jovita Becker, Jeff (Sheila) Becker, Jack Becker, Greg (Claire) Becker, Darcy (Carlos) Becker and Richard (Virginia) Becker; grandchildren, Trent Mock (Peter), Preston and Chelsey Wentz, Jesse (Brittany) Becker, Graham Becker, Andrew Becker (Sean) and Cora Becker, Samuel, Nathan, Marielle, Hannah Claire and Christian Becker; great-granddaughter, Sawyer Becker: step-grandchildren, Becky Gayle and family, Audra Foshage, Alexandra Williams (Cole); brothers, Leo Becker, Anton (Marvie) Becker, Paul (Lavata) Becker, Leonard (Carole) Becker; sisters, Helen Schumacher, Betty Schumacher and Alice (Jerry) Regner; brothers-in-law, Leo Ibach, Jerry (Marilou) Mitzel; sisters-in-law, Frances Becker, Marlys Mitzel, Monica Lubbers, Margaret Jangula, Johanna Sanders. He was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Byron Bedwell; one sister, AnnMarie Ibach; two brothers, Joe and Pete; brothers-in-law, Richard, Mike and Sebastian Mitzel, Tony Schumacher and Kenny Schumacher; and four sisters-in-law, Mardine and Marie Mitzel and Helen and Frances Becker.
