George F. Kolling, 77, Bismarck, passed away at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck, ND, on Saturday, December 8, 2018, surrounded by his family. George passed as a result of complications from surgery. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 12, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N 2nd St., Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 pm Wednesday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am – 12:00 Noon Tuesday, December 11, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck. Family will greet visitors from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. George, a native of Dickinson ND was born in May 1941 to Joseph and Anna Kolling. The 4th of 16 children, his childhood was spent farming the family homestead. After graduating from Dickinson High School in 1960, he joined the U.S. Air Force. In 1961 he married the love of his life, Marlene. After leaving the Air Force in 1964, he worked as a plumber in the Dickinson area. In 1975, George and his family moved to Glendive where he worked as a pipefitter for the Burlington Northern Railroad until 1983 when he started work for the U.S Postal Service. Retiring in 2004, George and Marlene moved to Bismarck ND where he worked part time as a courtesy driver for Dvorak Motors. George and Marlene have 3 children: George (Robin), Laurel (Al) and Neil (Kimberly); seven grandchildren, Mariah (Dustin), Matthew, Cody (Kreston), Jordan, Seth, and Saige; and two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Jalen. George is also survived by his siblings, Juliann (Frank), Eleanor, Francis, Lester, Sharleen, Elmer (Dolly), Audrey (Timothy), Pam, Allen, Michael (Connie) and Keith. George was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence and Jerry; sisters Liz and Debbie.
