George Krein

George Krein, 92, Bismarck, died August 16, 2019 at Knife River Care Center. 

Services will be held at 10:00 am on August 23, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church, 413 E Ave D, Bismarck, with Rev. Thomas R. Marcis, Jr. officiating.  Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on August 22, 2019, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 East Divide Avenue, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

George was born January 22, 1927, at Tuttle, North Dakota, the son of John and Elizabeth (Waltz) Krein.  He was raised and educated at Tuttle.  He moved to Bismarck in 1951 and began employment at Rausch Furniture working in their floor covering department.  In 1970, he started working as salesman for the furniture store and continued in that capacity until his retirement in 1989.

George and Doris Schuchard married December 12, 1954, at Napoleon.  They lived in Bismarck.  He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Elks Lodge.

George enjoyed hunting with family and friends and loved to spend time in his garden. He always had fresh flowers to give to those near and dear to him.  He was a fantastic wood worker and loved giving a helping hand wherever needed. After retiring, he had more time to enjoy playing golf and going bowling.  George and Doris spent 20 years going to Yuma, AZ for the winters and enjoyed the many friends they made in Arizona.

George is survived by his wife, Doris, one sister, Viola Schmidt, San Bernardino, CA., and many nieces and nephews.

George was proceeded in death by his parents John and Elizabeth, his sisters Caroline Schock, Lydia Dockter, Emma Johnson, Martha Birst, and Ester Helmer.  Brothers, Henry, Gust, Phillip, Rudolph, and Emil.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Zion Lutheran Church, 413 E Ave D, Bismarck, ND 58501.
