Glenn Snyder

September 28, 1956 — May 16, 2018

On May 16, 2018, Glenn Snyder, age 61 of Wing, ND, went to sing with his Lord and Savior. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the Tuttle United Methodist Church, Tuttle, ND. Burial of ashes will follow the service at Tuttle Cemetery. Glenn Robert Snyder was born September 28, 1956 in Lowell, Massachusetts, to Harold and Elizabeth (Mac Phail) Snyder. Although Glenn had many tragedies happen to him in his young life, he had a very loving Grandmother who made sure he got to church and fulfilled in him the love of singing hymns. After many years of running away from God and two failed marriages, he still came home to take care of his dying mother and father. Even though Glenn had made some poor decisions in life, he paid his dues while in prison and rekindled his love for the Lord. Upon being released he found peace within the Native American Spiritual Culture and was given the name Chief Standingbear after dancing with the Tree of Life. He attended many Sundances and went on to lead many sweat lodges all over the country. After Glenn pulled out bodies from the rubble of 9/11, he and 6 others went on a 100 mile peace walk. Glenn stated in the Southbridge Evening News newspaper that “I went down there {NYC} with peace. That’s how I got through it”. He never went back to New York City ever again. Glenn was very proud to call himself a Vietnam Veteran, even though he never served overseas. Glenn moved to Tuttle, ND on April 26, 2007. Glenn met the love of his life, JoEll, in a small church in Tuttle, when he heard her sing around the Fall of 2008. Although he did not make any sort of moves until several years later, JoEll and Glenn were married May 25, 2013. Glenn enjoyed his morning pinochle games at the Tuttle Senior Center, animals, cooking grease, and his cream and sugar with his hazelnut coffee. In November of 2017, he fulfilled a dream legally while visiting family in Colorado and was sorely disappointed in it. The things he found most enjoyable was singing hymns and watching the sunset. Glenn was a very selfless, forgiving, big-hearted, gentle man. Glenn is survived by his wife JoEll of Wing, ND, his step-children, Teddi-Lyn and Ty Bergquist of Bismarck and Tucker Bergquist of Fargo, ND, and distant cousins of Massachusetts. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother, and Spiritual Elders.
