Gloria graduated from Grand Forks Central High School and then attended secretarial school. She worked for the draft board and UND Administration in Grand Forks before moving to Bismarck and beginning work with the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission. For many years she worked directly for Harold Vavra, the head of the commission, during a time of significant growth in air traffic for the state.Gloria married Stan Haas in 1946. She raised one husband and two sons, all of whom she was very proud of. She was a lady and never swore. But, she also was a Norwegian and “ufda” was the word often heard throughout our house. Generally, it meant “look out”. Like many North Dakotans, Gloria enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, and playing cards. She also loved to dance and was an accomplished bowler in multiple leagues over the years. She was also known, on occasion, to indulge in a cold glass of beer. She also liked costume jewelry, great sales on shoes and “outfits”, and never missed a good bargain at the grocery store. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Bismarck for over 60 years. After they both retired, Gloria and Stan travelled the country in their motor home, visiting family and friends, and places they hadn’t seen before. They also spent the winter seasons in Capitola, California, and Georgetown, Texas, before returning to Bismarck full-time.She is survived by her two brothers, Donald and Robert (wife Dolores) Gausvik and their families. She is also survived by her sons, Tim (wife Joey) Haas, Houston, Texas, and Jerry (wife Marilyn) Haas, Colleyville, Texas; four grandchildren, Andrew, Austin, Texas, Terri, Chris and Toby, Houston, Texas; and five great-grandchildren, Josh, Jamie, MaKenzie, Lindy and Hayden, all of Houston, Texas.Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Stan.
