Grant Weisz, 43, Bismarck, passed away on September 19, 2018, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 25, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 106 Osage Ave., Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday, September 24, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Grant was born December 30, 1974, the son of Alvin Weisz and Margie Gentry, the eldest of five siblings. Grant graduated from Century High School in 1993 and later received a degree in phlebotomy from Bismarck State College and worked in healthcare at Medcenter One and St. Alexius Hospitals. Grant possessed great passion and ability in art, music, and making others laugh. He pursued graphic arts for a time and even worked briefly as a deejay. His other creative talents included cooking, and he was employed as a chef in Bismarck, Moorhead, and Fargo, and as a kitchen manager in Des Moines, IA. Grant was a devoted and nurturing father. He spent countless hours entertaining his children, whether it was making sock puppets, pretend cooking and actual cooking, creating art projects, giving skateboarding lessons, playing music and video-gaming, or just laughing on the floor together with toys in hand. Grant’s musical pursuits allowed him to befriend an assortment of talented people who became like family over the years. He had his favorite bands and musical artists, but Grant often preferred to simply grab some friends or his brother Shannon for an intense, impromptu jam session. Grant’s wit always brought laughter to the family table or when he was up to his shenanigans with friends. He knew just what to say to lighten the moment, and he was a superb impressionist. Grant was a life-long learner and a true Renaissance man. He devoted much time to networking with new people with unique perspectives in music, art, and all things 80s. He never quit trying to sharpen his skills and improve his knowledge of the world. Yet, all his zest for life was tempered by a very personal and intimate relationship with God. Grant is survived by his son, Isaac, Grand Forks and his daughter, Ava, Bismarck; mother, Margie Gentry, Colorado Springs, CO; father, Alvin (Kathy) Weisz, Bismarck; brother, Shannon (Jessica) Weisz, Bismarck, brother, Richard Weisz (Cortney), Bismarck; stepsister, Carla (Robin) Ouren, Fargo; stepbrother, Ryan (Amy) Will, Bismarck; ex-wife, Molly Weisz, Bismarck; grandmother, Lorraine Metzer, Eureka, SD; nephews, Peyton Weisz, Chase Weisz, Rylan Ouren; and niece, Kalyn Ouren.
