Gregory James Wentz was born March 9, 1947 and died December 6, 2017 in a tragic accident. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday December 16, 2017 at St. James Episcopal Church, Cannon Ball, ND. Sharing of memories will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday December 15, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. He was born and raised in Grafton, ND. He played multiple sports in high school, but excelled in hockey. He was offered and accepted a scholarship to play hockey at Colgate University. He then played hockey in Denmark and was very successful. He has coached and mentored many kids throughout the years. He returned to North Dakota and married his life’s partner, Christie Iverson in 1987. They had 4 children, Jacob, Josef, Sofia and Lara. He owned his own business providing home care for the elderly and disabled. Greg was a passionate man. He was passionate about his politics and claimed to have flipped many die hard republicans. He was an avid recycler. He was passionate about German Wirehaired Pointers and hunting. He earned 2 versatile championships in NAVHDA and is survived by Max and Lizzy. He was a pilot, a gardener, a bird watcher, a cook, particularly with pheasant and grouse, a strong advocate for his family and friends when needed. He liked to live life to its fullest. He is survived by his wife and children, his sisters, JoAnn and her children Gino, Jim and Jolene, Mary and Susan and her daughter Annie; his brother’s children, Renata, Sam and Lauren as well as grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard (Sonny) and Dorothy (Altendorf) Wentz as well as his brother Thomas. He will be missed.
