Guy R. McLaughlin Sr.

Guy Roland McLaughlin Sr., 73, Bismarck, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 3, 2022, with his family by his side.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, August 9, 2022, at the All Nations Veterans Cemetery, Selfridge, North Dakota.

He was born on February 8, 1949, in Aberdeen, SD, the son of Roland C. and Darlene (Woodruff/Fezler) McLaughlin. When Guy was young, his family moved to Compton, California, where he was raised and educated, graduating from Duarte High School. He then joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam being Honorably Discharged in 1973.  He reentered the service in 1978 and was stationed in California until being Honorably discharged in 1981. He started his professional career in New Rockford and then in Bismarck.  He was once married to Lois Stands and from this union, they had four children.

Guy was a strong-willed man who endured and overcame many things in his life and was always proud of his family. He is finally at peace and will be missed by all who loved him in life.

He is survived by three children, Renee Thorgramson (Shakira, Wesley, Tanaya & Garrett), Corinna J. McLaughlin(Riese, Chance, Valerie & Savear) and Guy McLaughlin Jr (Havannah, Gavin & Macayla); 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with one on the way, which include the late Vanessa Kissoondath’s children, Raina, N’isaa, Sarianna, Azalie, Dejah, Sanjulie, Valicianna; siblings, Steve (Marlene) McLaughlin, Fort Thompson, SD, John Henry (Jack) McLaughlin(Lisa), Arkansas, Melody (Pat) Riepl, Bismarck,  Ernest Fezler, Fargo; and several nieces and nephews. 

Guy was greeted into the spirit world by his parents; an older sibling, Richard; daughter, Vanessa Ann Kissoondath; two nieces; nephew; grandson; and great-grandchildren.
