H.Duane Erickson, age 84, our Dad, Husband, and Grandfather passed away March 2. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 9, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N. 2nd St., Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. The family will greet visitors at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Duane was born Feb. 26, 1934, in Enderlin, ND, to Henry and Alice (Olson) Erickson. His father barbered in Enderlin for over 40 years. Duane attended Enderlin High School where he met his future wife of 62 years Luella (Lue). Duane and Luella graduated from high school in 1952 and were married on June 4, 1955. Duane had a long career as a grocer starting in the business while still in high school. In the 1950's he worked for Red Owl, owned his own grocery store in Enderlin in the 1960's and for the last 25 years of his career he worked in various business development roles for Super Valu. Duane and Lue retired in Bismarck in 1995 splitting their time between Bismarck and Yuma, AZ, where they had a winter home. Duane's hobbies were woodworking, cooking, fishing, dancing, and grandfathering. In his retirement years, his scroll saw was always going as he made intricate wooden treasures for his family and friends. Duane was a lifelong voracious reader on a wide range of subjects but loved a good mystery best. Duane is survived by his wife, Luella; son, Dale and his life partner, Paige of Huntington Beach, CA; daughter, Deb Nunes her husband, Gary Nunes, their daughters, Alex and Jackie of West Chester, PA; and son, Derek and his wife, Shari of Maple Grove, MN; and MANY extended family members who loved him.
