Harley D. Wagner was born March 5, 1945, to Jake and Esther (Krein) Wagner on a farmstead near McClusky, ND. After he graduated from McClusky High School in 1963 he moved to Lincoln, NE, where he went to trade school to become a painter. Harley went on to paint for a total of 42 years starting with the Butts Family and last 36 years with the Eckert Family. Harley met his first wife, Amy Lane, in Lincoln, NE, they moved to Bismarck, ND, in late 1968 and married in January 1969. To this union his son, Kevin, and daughter, Kari, were born. Harley married Sharon (Shoening-Bachmeier) in December 2001. Along with this marriage, he gained four children, Lita, Wade, Jeanette and Curt Bachmeier.
Harley, in his youth, had a heavy foot and loved to drive fast and drag race his various cars (especially his ’57 Chevy) with his friends. Harley was a jokester, loved to laugh and pull pranks on friends and family. Wherever Harley went he knew someone he could visit, reminisce and laugh with. “Papa Harley” loved to spoil his grandkids, “No” was not in his vocabulary when it came to them. When friends would call he’d always end by “Ok, thanks for callin.” Harley is loved and will be missed beyond belief.
Harley is survived by his wife, Sharon; their children, Kevin (Shereé) Wagner, Kari Wagner (Cody Dachtler), Lita (Shawn) Lehde, Wade (Kelly) Bachmeier, Jeanette Bachmeier (Alphonse Kienzle), and Curt Bachmeier (Leslie Ferguson); grandchildren, Reed, Harley Ray, Keylee, Tytus, Ashlyn, Parker, Kaitlyn, Addison, Ava, Sutton, and Grampa’s partner-in-crime, Kash; his siblings, JoAnn (Dave) Keller and Jack (Rose) Wagner; nephews, Brent, Jake, and Travis Wagner; and his special friends, Edie Potter Family and Gerry Adams Family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Esther Wagner; his sisters, Connie and Sharon Wagner; nephew, John Vogel; special friend, Gene Potter; and his beloved dog, Elvis.
